Early production CH23 dining room chair by Hans J. Wegner
Hans J. Wegner designed the CH23 dining room chair in 1950 for Carl Hansen & Son, Denmark.
Characteristic of this chair are the joinery details in the top rail of the chair and also the weaving of the paper cord or rattan between the stretchers and the seat frame.
At the time you could choose from various versions. The frame was available in a combination of beech and oak, either full oak or a combination of oak and teak. The seat was available in woven paper cord or woven rattan. Most CH23 chairs came with paper cord seats.
The version I offer has a frame in oak and teak with a woven rattan seat. This was the most luxurious (and expensive) version.
I am offering the chair in refinished condition, the oak has been cleaned and re-waxed, the teak has been re-oiled and the seat has been re-woven with new cane (rattan).
